Alex, a.k.a., “Silver Fox,” grew up in Salem, Oregon. He is a passionate outdoor enthusiast, international traveler, mentor, and overall fun guy to be around. But don’t ask him which fungi you can eat, because he’s not that kind of “fun guy”! When he was younger he spent his summers camping with his family and friends. His dad hiked with at-risk youth in Colorado in the 70s, which partly inspired Alex’s love for hiking and the outdoors.

High Res1At the age of 17, he embarked on his first international volunteer experience where he lived and served in Lima, Peru. While in Peru, he visited Machu Picchu and loved it! Since then he has traveled all over the world, including serving in the United States Peace Corps in Bulgaria. Most recently he came back from a four month trip to New Zealand where he of course did some hiking, most notably the Routeburn Trek on the South Island. A fabulous 3-day hike, which he highly recommends. He’s very personal and easy to talk to. And feel free to challenge him to a 100 yard dash if you dare, but be warned, you just might lose!
