We are finishing up our last week of teaching kids about the outdoors before leaving for our 5 month hike. The butterflies are out in force as we finish our final preparations for the trail and dream about the days to come.

Yesterday, we hiked our group to Merced Grove, a grove of Giant Sequoias located in Yosemite National Park. The crazy part is that it has recently stormed and we had to trail blaze 1.5 miles in a foot or more of snow to get there… And it was all downhill… So you can imagine the epic journey on the way back to the road.

When asked if the hike to the grove was the hardest thing they had ever done, many of the students replied yes, but added that they feel incredible!  Tumbleweed, Swift, and I are so proud of their accomplishment.

Today we spent a gorgeous day exploring the magical valley floor of Yosemite – and to top it off we are having a campfire with skits and smores.

Our train tickets are purchased and our ride to the border is arranged! We depart Saturday morning! Stay tuned!

Oh and here is a video of our new friend and chaperone, Falcon/Dexter, helping out this week at WOLF. He wrote a sweet song about his experiences at outdoor Ed!
