Today we celebrate the second annual Get Outside Day.  Hundreds of “natural leaders” nationwide are getting outside and want to encourage others to follow in their footsteps.  Read more about it at the Children & Nature Network website.  This is an incredible worthwhile cause and I was  impressed by the amount and variety of local events held in the Bay Area and nationwide.  Today, Melissa and I will celebrate by finalizing our gear preparations, and enjoying an afternoon BBQ with friends.  Hopefully, we will find some time for a short hike.  Let us know what you did to celebrate Get Outside Day!

Yesterday, Melissa recieved her new lightweight down jacket from Lands End.  I was so stoked to find this product online for such an incredible price, and in green (Melissa’s color choice) and hope that it proves to be a worthy piece of gear.  It’s weight compares similarly to her thrift-store fleece (12 ounces) but we are hoping that because of the wind resistance factor, it will eliminate having to carry an additional wind breaker, therefore lightening the pack and providing more pack space.

We are getting extremely excited as the day grows closer to standing beside the Southern Terminus Monument and facing North, before putting one foot in front of the other, smiling and saying “Alrighty, here we gooo!”   Enjoy and Happy Easter!
