Mile 0 – Day zero

Wow. We have received the most incredible trail magic from Halfmile and Nymph. They have treated us like a king and queen. Their generosity is unmeasurable.

After picking us up in San Diego, they drove us to grab some last minute groceries, took us to the camp (where they are camping out this week) and treated us to a delicioous meal of cheeseburgers and homemade chicken enchiladas! Did I mention these two are incredible?

We chatted with Nymph on our way over to Lake Morena- such an exciting free spirit who sold her house last year (she is retired) and has been exploring all around the west coast.

We have also met thru hikers like Smiles – a beautiful lady from Switzerland who has been married 35 years and decided to hit the trail, a Kiwi couple who hiked the AT, and a rookie who first real backpacking experience began today. It is so exciting to be here and feel the excitement present in everyone. As we look to other hikers and ourselves we are reminded of the preparation, planning and questioning involved with each necessary step required to end up here. Now we rest as tomorrow we embark on an adventure we can’t even find the adjectives to describe.
